GDAS EVENT FOR MEMBERS, FAMILY, FRIENDS

Preuss
Pets is the largest family owned and operated pet store in Michigan. This
unique pet store has a Koi stream with waterfall features running through
part of the store. There is an outside waterfall and pond display in the
parking lot. There are some classic vehicles and an old school bus
integrated into the displays.

Preuss has invited us to visit their store in
Lansing as a GDAS event. The
visit is scheduled for Sunday, June 29 at 4:30 PM. The store closes at 6 PM but we
will be able to stay as long as we like and thus have more time with less
distraction from customers. Weekends are a very busy time at this large
store but due to driving times and work schedules of many of our members,
this was the best timing. Also, the drive from the Royal Oak Area will take
approximately 1-1/2-2 hours so you will still have time to do other things
earlier in the day. I expect that we will be returning home around 6:30
PM. Carpools can be arranged at the Banquet in June. I plan to drive from
the Milford area and can take 4 passengers and still have room for
purchases.
We will
have a guided tour of the store where a very extensive assortment of fresh
and marine fish, corals, reptiles, amphibians, birds (more than 100 - at
least 20 or 30 different species!), unusual mammals (hedgehogs anyone?) and
the hard goods to back up all these critters. Experts in each of these
departments will be available for questions. There will also be plenty of
time for exploring on our own. A highlight of the tour will be a “behind the
scenes” visit to the fish propagation area where livebearers sold at the
store are bred.

Pets will give our members 10% off on any purchases except tanks and a
couple of other things that have an extremely low mark-up from whole-sale.
This discount will also apply to used equipment so you may find some
bargains. Almost forgot to mention an important detail, refreshments will
be served!
We hope
that many will take advantage and join other fish-folk for this event.
If you are
not able to attend the banquet, get in touch with Jim Craig or any Board
member to coordinate the trip. You are also welcome to travel on your own,
arriving at 4:30 PM on June 29. The store is located at
1127 N
Cedar St. at the corner of Grand River with easy access from the
